Project Description

Located along the prestigious Jumeirah Beach Road, Mercato Shopping Mall is one of Dubai’s most distinctive retail environments, inspired by the Renaissance architecture of Italian coastal towns. The mall features a unique streetscape experience under a dramatic vaulted atrium, housing a curated mix of boutique retail, lifestyle, and dining spaces.

The interior design vision was originally conceived and led by Rebecca Gernon during her tenure as Managing Director at Decorpoint. Her signature design approach infused the public interiors with a warm, immersive palette, custom architectural detailing, and human-scale proportions that complemented the mall’s Mediterranean narrative. Rebecca’s conceptual leadership and spatial storytelling contributed significantly to establishing Mercato as an iconic retail destination that balances charm with functionality.

Following her departure to establish SBD, credit for the interior execution was reassigned internally to Daniele Morelli, Decorpoint’s Chief Architect, who ensured the design intent was carried through to implementation. This collaborative transition respected the original vision while enabling smooth project delivery.

The result is a timeless interior that continues to evoke European elegance while supporting evolving retail needs. Today, Mercato Mall remains a beloved shopping and community destination, with its interior character still bearing the unmistakable imprint of its original design leadership.
