Project Description

Nestled in the heart of Dubai’s vibrant Sheikh Zayed Road corridor, ZOCO Restaurant at the V Hotel is a bold and theatrical celebration of Mexican culture and Latin culinary tradition, imagined through the lens of high-end architectural storytelling and immersive interior design. As a prominent architect and interior designer, my vision for ZOCO was to create more than a restaurant—it is a spatial performance of mood, flavor, and rhythm.

Upon entering ZOCO, guests are enveloped in a chiaroscuro of ambient lighting and richly textured surfaces, where architectural arches meet vaulted brick ceilings and rustic wood merges with metallic accents. The pièce de résistance—a suspended spiral ceiling installation constructed from thousands of dark glass bottles—evokes both artisanal craftsmanship and modern sculptural drama, pulling the gaze upward and anchoring the space in visual rhythm. The interiors are a sensory tapestry: warm terracotta walls, exposed brickwork, reclaimed timber furnishings, and dramatic chandelier-style lighting echo the vibrancy and soul of Latin America. Custom murals and Day of the Dead-inspired artwork are strategically layered to evoke a cultural homage while avoiding kitsch, instead offering sophistication and intimacy. Each detail is curated to provoke memory, mood, and connection.

The spatial planning celebrates fluidity, blurring the lines between dining, lounging, and revelry. A central bar lined with industrial-chic stools becomes a hub of convivial energy, while the lounge and dining zones are layered with plush textures and cozy table groupings, designed for both social gatherings and romantic escapes. A private dining area allows for exclusivity without losing connection to the pulse of the venue.

As the sun sets over the canal views beyond the expansive glazing, the interior comes alive with sultry Tropical House rhythms. Carefully calibrated acoustics and lighting elevate the restaurant from a dining venue to a nightlife destination, enhancing the nocturnal allure of ZOCO.

The concept is anchored in sustainability and regional relevance. Locally sourced materials, energy-efficient lighting, and adaptable furniture pieces speak to a modern ethos of mindful luxury. At ZOCO, authenticity and innovation entwine—a culinary stage where Dubai’s global soul and Latin flair meet in a high-design context.
