Project Description

Perched on the vibrant trunk of The Palm Jumeirah, Barrel 12 was envisioned as a modern American-style sports bar that would seamlessly blend relaxed hospitality with elevated casual design. The project brief called for a full architectural and interior concept that delivered a distinctly urban energy within a coastal resort setting—inviting residents, tourists, and sports fans alike.

Drawing inspiration from classic American sports pubs and industrial lofts, the interior was designed to be warm, tactile, and dynamic. Exposed steel beams, reclaimed timber accents, subway tiles, and concrete floors establish a rugged authenticity, while a curated mix of sports memorabilia, vintage lighting fixtures, and high-definition screens ensure a fully immersive fan experience.

The space accommodates a variety of seating typologies to suit every social scenario: high communal tables for groups, plush booths for longer stays, and flexible bar seating around a prominent central island bar. The open-plan layout was carefully choreographed to ensure clear sightlines to multiple large-format TV screens, making every seat a prime viewing spot.

One of the key drivers of the design was connectivity to the outdoors. The venue’s dual-aspect frontage allows it to flow effortlessly onto a generous outdoor terrace, framed by modern pergolas and shaded by bespoke awnings. This al fresco space features pool tables, outdoor heaters for winter nights, and casual lounge seating—ensuring comfort and social activity year-round.

Materials were selected for durability and contrast: leather, weathered oak, powder-coated steel, and exposed brick tones dominate the palette, all softened by integrated lighting that can shift ambiance from day to night, weekday to weekend. A refined sound system and acoustically treated zones allow for live sports, music, and casual conversation to coexist.

Barrel 12 stands as a cornerstone of social life on The Palm, embodying the laid-back soul of an American sports bar while offering Dubai’s diverse community a place to unwind, celebrate, and connect—indoors or under the stars.
