Project Description
Al Gurm Plaza represents a landmark moment in UAE development, standing as the first freehold property commissioned by Aldar Properties. Strategically located at the gateway to the prestigious Al Gurm Resort, the plaza was envisioned as a refined yet accessible destination, balancing high-end retail with lifestyle convenience.
Our design team was entrusted with the complete architectural and conceptual design for the plaza and retail center. The approach focused on delivering a cohesive public realm, seamlessly integrating the natural mangrove surroundings with curated retail and F&B offerings. From boutique storefronts to shaded walkways and tranquil courtyards, every element of the plaza was crafted to elevate the shopping and leisure experience, while paying tribute to the region’s natural beauty and cultural context.
Soft organic forms, clean architectural lines, and the interplay of light and shade contribute to a vibrant, human-centric environment. Water features and native landscaping were thoughtfully positioned to provide cooling, comfort, and aesthetic delight. The material palette includes natural stone, wood accents, and open structural elements, reinforcing a sense of lightness and regional sophistication.
Al Gurm Plaza reflects a forward-thinking commercial design rooted in placemaking principles—creating not just a destination, but a lifestyle node for residents and visitors alike.
